Dear Parents,

Welcome to McLees Elementary School.  I am looking forward to working with your child as the new assistant principal.  As the teachers are busy preparing for an exciting new school year, it is imperative that we work together as a team to ensure your child's success.

First, we need your child at school everyday. Attendance is essential.  There is so much taught and learned on a daily basis that absences can create a problem. We realize that some absences will happen due to illness. If your child is absent due to an illness, please make sure to send a written excuse or a doctor’s statement when your child returns to school. Other absences should be kept to a minimum.

Second, have your child at school by 8:00 a.m. to prevent him or her from being tardy. It is very difficult for a child to walk into his or her classroom late, knowing that all the other children are already working and that he/she is behind on the plans for the day. If for some reason your child is tardy, a parent is required to walk the student into the building and sign them in.

Finally, communication with your child’s teacher is vital. Establish a good relationship with the teacher to make sure that everyone is on the same page in ways to help your child succeed. Be aware of your child’s assignments and what your child is currently learning. If there are any questions or concerns regarding your child’s class work, please do not hesitate to ask his/her teacher.

Thank you all for taking an active roll in your child's education.  Together we can make a difference!  Your support and dedication to our children at McLees is greatly appreciated. I know that great things are ahead for the 2009-2010 school year!

Most sincerely,
